Well, I had been thinking for a long time about having a character sitting by a campfire, dreaming or pensive or even despairing, while thinking of a loved one. This loved one, a figure of some kind of transcendental whatever, should sit next to the dreamer. That means: we don't just have the scene itself, we also have a dark background, we have light and shadow and a lucid being - the nemesis of every watercolorist. For me at least, three and a half of the four things mentioned are giving me the shivers.
In retrospect, the cheetah's shadows should have been a lot darker, and I also found the fires on the practice drawing nicer than the fire on the final piece. The background could have had a little more color and a nicer flow, but I like the ghost or rather the opaque nature of it. In general, I love this violet-yellow fur combination. The drawing has its issues every here and there, but considering the task and my current skills, I#m quite happy with ot. It gives me a glimpse of where the watercolor journey could take me. It was a struggle in places, but unfortunately, it takes a long time to make art look easy and playful.
