Original Species: Karanka (remake)
The Karanka is a fleet-footed bird roaming the Vogelheim's open grasslands and feeding on the abundant grasses and seeds. Groups of these avians are a common sight in the grasslands, especially in the spring and summer seasons when food is most plentiful. A typical flock consists of an adult male, 2-to 5 adult females, and their chicks.
Males can be differentiated from females by the blue and purple plumage on their heads and neck. Females are all brown and speckled. Young males are almost identical to females for the first year of life. As they grow older, the feathers on their necks and tails change to green, signifying adolescence. This coloration steadily becomes more vibrant and, once the feathers start turning a teal color, the adult male will chase away the younger males to avoid competition.
Skittish by nature, Karanka will run and scatter in all directions upon the first sign of danger. They can reach speeds in the range of 60 to 80 km/h.
