Believe it or not, there's actually an owl underneath all that fluff! :o
Next step. This time, all the fur pieces are cut out and some are sewn together. I'll need to sew them all together before I can start attaching it to the head! Right now, everything has just been laid on the head and pinned on in a couple places, so don't worry about symmetry. Once it's all glued down, he'll make more sense. That'll be the next picture I upload, hopefully in the next few days.
He's looking good so far I think! Glad to know you guys are excited to see him finished. That's great motivation for me to hurry up, lol. :D

Thank you so much, I'm glad you like it so far! :D
And I'm glad that fur is reading as "feathers," since that's the effect I was going for with him and was worried people wouldn't like the fact that I used a "printed" fur. Some folks seem to have an aversion to printed furs, but I think it can work out really well if used properly. We'll see if I was able to pull it off!

It is indeed the new DF fur! As soon as I saw that they were offering a "feather fur," I had to get a swatch for myself to see if it would work for my owl. I didn't want to use a solid fur color since they're actually quite spotted around their heads. It's a really great fur that's on par quality-wise with the rest of their fabrics! I wouldn't call it fragile at all, no. The only minor complaint I have (and this is more my preference than an issue) is that the fur pile varies in length. There are some areas that are about 1 inch long, then areas that are 2 inches long. It makes it look sort of splotchy, I suppose. But it's a minor thing that adds to the textured look of the head and really shouts "feathers!" to me, so I'm fine with it. :D
And thanks, I'm looking forward to seeing him finished myself! <3
