This is a Polyphemus moth. This one seems to be newly hatched, still perfect, and exceptionally nonchalant about my moving him around (carefully) and prodding him to open his wings. His wingspan is about five inches. Hehe... He looks so furry, I just want to pet him... But of course, that would damage the scales on his wings, so I'll refrain.
