I know a lot of people say they don't feel sorry for him, understandable given his behavior towards her, but if is backstory is true then that explains a lot about his character.
Born not of his mother's choice and the father wasn't there, and the mother took her resentment out on him, he had no love growing up and hold to mold himself in an already cruel world and sought power where before he had none.
Does not excuse his behavior and he is an asshole, but given his only teacher was this cut-throat world and denied love from either parent, and ironically worked in his favor, well. . . .What else can I say? Well, his negative views on women I can add, or projecting his mother on the queen.
