Having injected the nanites into the lion the mouse drone looks on as the process of converting the lion to full robot takes place. The nanites begin by turning the victims skin into a synthetic rubber-like material. Circuit pathways begin forming as the nanites convert the circulatory system into a mechanical counterpart which then begins producing more nanites of its own.
Metal begins to form over the synthetic skin coating him in durable armor. The materials of his cape and various ornaments are also subsumed into his new form providing a sort of template to work off of to determine the lions new look.
The mouse, seeing his job is done leaves the lion to report back to his masters as the lion will soon do once the process is complete. The lion on the other hand is having his brain implanted with a vast network of new pathways but will be the only thing that is left organic still inside him. The programming is already taking hold of him and soon he will work for the alien masters....but for how long?

Since this is set in a future where energy/matter conversion is possible they gather energy and convert it to any form of matter they wish. This energy can be anything from solar to chemical...as the body is being converted the body of the victim itself provides the energy the nanites need to convert matter into what they wish.
