Onkel was told to take the night off from the usual work at the office. With the free time he had, Onkel took a stroll home rather than a cab. While wandering the streets, he came across a comic shop that seemed to be holding a public party. Like any other detective, his curiosity got the best of him, so he ventured inside to see what kind of things he could do there. It seemed pretty basic, Snacks games, and everyone in costumes. It seemed to be for all ages, but Onkel seemed a bit old for these kind of things. After a cup of water, he decided to leave until his foot bumped into something on the floor. He looked down and spotted a children's toy on the floor. He picked it up and looked it over; it was a colorful toy clock with bright colors, the kind of thing a baby might play with.
It must have belonged to a child who lost it at the party, so the responsible thing would be to give this back to the child. Onkel walked around, looking for and talking with people about the toy, but he wasn't finding the owner. While he kept looking, Onkel would mess with the hands a little bit. Something about doing that was nostalgic, he kept playing with the hands on the face. Some of the faces he made was pretty funny, he kept moving the hands to make different combinations. While he was messing with the clock, he bumped his head on something. He yelped and his voice came out squeakier than he remembered. He felt his neck, but it wasn't sore or anything. What did he hit? He looked to the thing and it was a table... a large table. Looking around, everything was bigger. No, Onkel could tell real quick that he was smaller, and based on how his clothes fit, he had gotten younger. he was like a puppy all over again.
This was not good, he was little and confused, and he was maybe no one would recognize him now. Before he even knew it, he was sucking his thumb. He broke that habit years in his childhood, but now he couldn't help it again, he was too nervous.
A large woman came over and knelt down to him. "Awww, are you okay?"
"I'm shrinking.." Onkel told her, "I'm too young."
"Oh?" The woman looked to the pup and saw the clock he was clinging onto, "Oooh, so that's where that party toy went?"
"Paw-ty toy?" Onkel tilted his head
"Yes, I throw these parties with little surprises hidden throughout." The woman said, "You don't have to worry though, It all wears off by morning, as if it never happened."
"I can't go home like this though..." Onkel said, ears going down, "What am I going to do."
"Well, I could walk you home later." the woman said, "But, for now. Why not enjoy the night, detective?"
Her words surprised Onkel, she knew more than she ever lead on.
"Come on, you were thinking before about how you were too old for this." the woman said, "Now you're not anymore. Go embrace being a kid again, play some games, eat some candy. I think you'll have a good time."
Onkel was concerned about a lot of this, but a lot of the other guests seemed to be in on it. All of them were having fun regardless of their age... Maybe he could play again too, like he would as a child... At least for one more night.
