Io used to be just the size of a normal fox, so they're already a little bigger than how they started uwu

Also, wasn't it previously implied that Io's guests remained conscious while being possessed? Changed your mind about that? (There's nothing wrong with that, of course.)

This is still true for guests, though it is probably a half conscious state when entirely covered by Io, almost like a mix between a dream and reality

kinda curious what happens if the host is an endo type of character, one that can't be absorbed/assimilated/etc.

All that is really needed is a solid physical form
If a character cannot hold their shape then Io can't really take them over, since they're using their guests as vessels of sorts to cover in his "suit" and thusly have a body of their own to walk around with

ah, sorry, I was more referring to the bit about being a host for a month. I should've been more specific and asked what happens after that month is up if they are that type of character and have a solid physical form. My bad

Aha, I see
Hmm, the characters mostly get absorbed because mortal bodies simply can't handle being suited that long. If a character does not need to worry about that while also having the mentioned solid form, then theoretically Io could use them indefinitely as opposed to being absorbed
