Recently acquired an Oberheim DX and I've just been waiting for an idea to strike that I could follow through on.
The problem with the DX being like-new is that it has not been modified with MIDI, and since I don't have a 96ppqn clock course to hand, I had to go old-school; record the drum line in full using it's song mode and then dub everything else on top once I had tempo matched it (turns out 115bpm to the DX is actually 115.256).
All patches custom. Bass is from the Casio CZ-1. Everything else is the SCI Prophet 5 R4. Only MIDI was the synchronise the RD8 to the DAW for the secondary hat, cowbell and rimshot. Everything else was hand-played directly "to tape".
- Oberheim DX
- Casio CZ-1
- Sequential Prophet 5
- Behringer RD8
