Getting on in years and having more scuffs and bondo than glossy slate chitin, Raoul decided to go with a coat of fresh paint and some detailing to attract the lady sowbugs. With eye-catching flames, chrome running boards, and nibble-able green biodegradeable paint, he even dissuades some birds from attacking, thinking him one of the poisonous, or at least less tasty bugs out there.
Cool thing is, every molt is an excuse to do a new paintjob.

Pondering the cosmetic aspects of living with chitin - enamels, piercings, dry brushing, and glue on accessories, and got a little inspiration from Ramone from Cars.

Came out better than I thought it would.
He's been hangin' out in my sketchbook for about a week now - wanted to put him on a Japanese Mon, or as an insignia of some kind on another anthro insect, but he wanted showcasing for hissown self.
Banged out the color this morning at work, dead tired (90 minutes of nighmare filled sleep was all I had before the morning commute), and fit together quickly - the flames were a bit of a pain, but one simple pretty blue peeking eye can make it all worthwhile. :>
