Height: 4' or 1.21 meters
Weight: 208 lbs or 94.3 kg
Sexual Orientation: Bi-curious
Age: 22 years
A little background story for him too!
Gabe comes from a world that has a harsh environment. Large creatures that seem to phase in and out of existence hunt with no warning. The high winds can carry razorgrass shards, cutting into flesh with ease. One of the three oceans is acidic, and causes acid rain to fall over the largest continent. While Civilization started off slowly due to these elements, it eventually flourished thanks in part to the gnoll population whose ancient magic helped protect both the gnoll and human cities from the predators that stalked the ether. The humans provided protection from the razorgrass and acid rain with their technology. A Thousand years later, both races lived in a very large metropolis that are encased in protective bubbles that fused magic with technology. Not many gnolls in the modern era knew how to use their ancestral magic.
Gabe only recently was able to use magic. Although his magic seemed to be a bit more powerful and wild than what anyone has seen in recent years. Gabe tried in vain to keep this a secret, but after turning down a generous offer from the government, Gabe realized that he had to flee out into the harsh wilds, or he would end up working for the government against his will. He packed up what he could and was able to teleport himself outside the city. Using his magic to shield himself from the elements, he both hiked and short range teleported his way to a seaside cliff where he was able to use a small cave as a shelter. After setting up his wards and shield spells, Gabe sat down and observed the starry sky for the first time with his own eyes. It was much more beautiful and surreal than any image he’s seen before. It made him feel…small.
He thought he saw a large object start to move across the sky. The faintly glowing object stopped, and then started to appear bigger. It wasn’t until Gabe could tell that it resembled an ancient creature, a bear, that it was getting closer. Once the bear was in full view, the bear went and took a seat on the moon and just watched the world from its seat. The bear was MASSIVE! A creature of that size had to be impossible! Gabe was too awestruck and afraid to sleep. After a few hours, the bear’s eyes went towards Gabe. Gabe could feel its gaze and the bear got up from its lunar seat ans started to get even closer. The bear was about 50% of the horizon when it stopped and a warm smile spread across its face.
As soon as the smile was on the Bear’s face, the bear vanished from the night sky. Just as fast as it vanished, it appeared before Gabe. It still had its inviting smile on its face. The bear was about triple Gabe’s height, and much wider. Gabe was terrified, frozen in fear before this creature that had appeared suddenly, and could apparently manipulate its own size.
“N-N-NO! N-Not-t-t like-e-e t-this!” Gabe stuttered, knowing that this was likely the end, collapsing to the ground, shaking. Gabe felt a large and heavy, but gentle hand get placed on his back. Its touch was warm, sending a sensation of safety all throughout Gabe’s body. As Gabe slowly turned his head to look at the bear, the bear now had a concerned look on its face.
“I’m sorry for frightening you little one. Sometimes, its difficult for me to not cause fear and panic. Don’t worry, I’m not gonna hurt you.” The bear helped Gabe at least sti up, as it took a seat next to him. The bear slung its arm around Gabe which forced Gab to lean into the belly of the giant bear. Its belly was equally soft and warm. “That’s a beautiful night sky. Didn’t mean to ruin your night. My name is Raakk Duskfur, what’s your name?” Raakk gave Gabe a light back rub, trying to calm the gnoll down a bit.
“I-I’m Gabe O’Shea.” Gabe was still a bit shaken from seeing Raakk enormous.
“So Gabe, I see all these cities protected from this crazy weather. Why are you out here all alone? You're the only person I could see outside of a city!”
“I…I’m trying to hide from the cities…because I can do this-” Gabe cast several spells, reinforcing the protective shields and wards that encircle the camp. “They…want to use my new found power for the city and its protection. I just want to live my life…”
“Oh! Can others of your kind do that? Kind of strange that they would want specifically you.” Raakk was very inquisitive about Gabe’s magic.
“No, not really. That’s why the cities take magic users away, because they are both so rare and important. But apparently they aren’t treated very well…” The stress in Gabe’s voice was apparent.
“Ahh, seeking safety.” Raakk stares into the starry sky again. “I’ve been in a similar spot before…” Raakk trailed off before picking Gabe up and sitting the gnoll on his lap. “If you want, I can make sure they’ll never find you! But it involves coming with me, and leaving your world behind. I think you’d get along nicely with my friends!” Raakk’s words were inviting.
“Wha-” Gabe was in shock again. Who is this bear? Why would he just up and offer this, after only just meeting the gnoll?
“It’s ok, here, lets get you some sleep. You look exhausted. I’ll keep you warm and safe.” Raakk carried Gabe into the cave and propped himself up against the wall.
Raakk was big enough that Gabe could use Raakk’s belly as a bed, which is where Raakk placed Gabe, and blanketed Gabe with his big paw. “Everything is going to be ok buddy” Raakk reassured Gabe as exhaustion finally overtook the gnoll. Gabe passed out quite quickly on Raakk’s stomach.
The morning sun beamed right into Gabe’s face, but as he awoke, Raakk appeared to be at the entrance, talking to a few humans who looked like they might be from the city’s government. The humans looked scared and after backing away, they both ran for a vehicle and took off.
The bear quickly re entered the cave and was happy to see Gabe awake. “Oh good! You’re awake. We should probably leave. I think they’ll be back soon with friends.”
“What happened?” Gabe tiredly asked
“Well, it looks like they were able to track where I went, and they picked up on your magical signature too. They tried to threaten me, but I reminded them that I could turn their cities into a paw crater with ease, and then they fled. Come, let me take you somewhere safe.” Raakk held out his large paw for Gabe to take. Gabe took the bear’s hand and suddenly felt much lighter than he did before. Gabe’s eyes went wide as he could see his world in the starry sky. Looking around, Gabe realized that he was on the moon, right where he first saw Raakk sitting.
“Woah…” Gabe was in awe at the visual he was taking in.
“Yeah, no matter how many times I see woulds like this, its always a sight to see!” Raakk took a seat next to Gabe. “You ok with coming with me?”
“Y-yes, I’ll be fine. Just want to take it all in for a moment.” Both Gabe and Raakk stared at the planet for a little while.
“Ok, I’m ready.” Gabe wiped some tears from his eyes as he took Raakk’s hand once again. Ready for a new start with new friends.
