today is the game's 20th anniversary, which is both a scary way to realize how much time has passed since the release of a gamecube game (it's technically retro now but it still feels fresh????) and a reason to celebrate it!!!! i started playing this game almost exactly a year ago when the fan translation patch came out, and i think it contributed to me finally getting back into gaming in a way that i never had before
i still loved video games the most, but i basically just played the rotation of multiplayer ones i had like tf2 and srb2kart and ones that technically didn't have a goal, and the first time i played this one i was absolutely hooked because it's so damn satisfying to pull off both getting fast times in the easy stages/finally mastering the balls hard stages, and ever since i've been having a lot of fun browsing through libraries of retro games and finally being able to complete a lot of them!! i dunno how else to word it but give this game a shot when you can
