Since the Nagassa are no longer around this information is mostly of historical relevance, however given the source of this information it may still be relevant in some ways in the future but it is at the very least interesting to know what could have been had the Nagassa survived and traded peacefully with the other races of Eidon.
If one were to go to the market square of the Nagassa capitol one could easily get lost there for days as all the districs markets joined there, making it a city witin a city as the districts were in fact seperate cities of their own merged together over time. It must have been an unimaginable crowd, numbering in the tens of thousands and dwarfing that of the largest cities on Eidon today. And if one wanted the highest quality goods there was but one place to go, the trade palace, and the monarch of the markets, Aareku. So what kinds of wares could one find there? Naturally the typical wares of any market, food and ingreadients from all across the Nagassa empire, furniture, tools, clothing, raw materials and supplies, livestock and slaves. But what were some of the specialty goods only found at Nagassa markets? Aparently Aareku had the monopoly on ores and refined metals, gold, silver, platinum, brass, copper, tin and bronze, precious gemstones as well obviously as the Nagassa were expert jewel and gem crafters due to their experience working with their bloodstone crystals. Naturally the favorite drink of commoner and emperor alike, Khaffa, could be found there both bottled and casked though most of Aakeru's supply was reserved for the imperial palace. Scale dyes and powders were also a sought after commodity typically reserved for the nobles and the temple to color scales and paint patterns on their scales to bring some color and individuality since all Nagassa have black scales. This brings us to another group of popular products, oils, ointments and perfumes to take care of their scales, Nagassa perfumes are different from those of most races as they are not just scented but flavored as well as Nagassa can aparently taste the scents in the air.
Aareku also had a monopoly on certain rare delecacies such as dragon eggs, either obtained from raids on dragon settlements or from Aareku's personal dragon slaves. (Hopefully the dragons don't hold too much of a grudge for that happening so many ages ago if the Nagassa ever return to their former greatness.) Basilisk and cockatrice meat was another rare delicacy as was a creature that was preferably eaten whole and alive, something called a Noom or such which resembled a tiny human the size of a kobold, but that idea just seems so rediculous we are certain our source was making this up as a joke... Now last but certainly not least we get to the most interesting things due to the Nagassa advanced science and technoloy and things they called appliances all powered by bloodstone crystals. First thing on the list is perhaps not so technological, a phoenix feather lamp which must have been incredibly rare and expensive considerign how difficult it is to harvest and preserve these feathers. The methods how the Nagassa did this are uncertain but they managed to perfectly preserve the feathers and keep them from combusting or extinguishing somehow and fusing them into a bloodstone vessel. A simple mechanism allowed the light of this lamp to be dimmed or brightened by twisting a ring in which the feather was connected to the vessel with, quite a thing to behold we are certain as not even the greatest mages of our time can manage to preserve a phoenix feather for more than a few weeks, let alone keep it alive to use as a lamp this way. Perhaps it is a unique trait of this bloodstone crystal which allows for this to be possible. The Nagassa also had a portable power source which could also illuminate a room using a power which reminds of lightning safely contained inside a small container, and this portable light was but one form this power was used in as the same ssytem was used in their homes so with a simple flip of a lever they would have light and warmth in every room. Though we have magic now it is still difficult to copy this as effectively, And keeping in mind this was thousands of years ago before most races even learned to use magic, who knows what else the Nagassa might have achieved by now with such advanced knowledge. And lastly the Nagassa could store and use gasses and a refined form of oil as fuel, stored inside titanium cylinders for easy storage and transportation, and they would use this to prepare food on their stoves or power some other devices. Though our source alledged these materials were also used as weapons during their war with the dragons, perhaps this is some knowledge best left forgotten...
We will be looking forward to learning more about Nagassa culture soon and share some of what our source shares with our scholars and historians.
