Every night, as the sun passes the horizon, the sun god Ra makes his journey by boat though the Duat. Set, lord of chaos but also destroyer of obstacles often stands at the boat's prow. Protecting the boat from the serpent of chaos, the name too dreadful to utter.
Every night, the serpent attacks the ship of Ra. Every night, Set protects Ra against the serpent. Destroying him so that Ra may bring the sun to light the next day. Until the next night when the journey repeats, and Set battles the serpent once again.
