Yeah, you did this as frame by frame animation when it could be done in a fraction of the time with a simple motion tween. In my first year of university they cruelly made me animate in flash your way deliberately so that I could learn the actual steps later. :(
The way it works is, you make two keyframes - one at the beginning and one at the end - place the glasses at the top in the first keyframe and then at their destination in the last keyframe, then make the tween. Use other layers to change the appearance of the eyes (cover them with another eye layer that then moves in sync with the glasses) and lastly, separate layers for the nose and jaw, with the teeth motion tweened down in between the two.
However, as far as proper animation in flash goes, you'd ideally be doing as much frame-by-frame animation as possible, once you learn it. :)
