After viewing a news report on surviving communal apartments in Saint-Petersburg, I wanted to improve on the concept. I took inspiration from capsule architecture and made the combined bedroom/living room both modular and detachable, so that tenants have a private space that can be moved easily to another location if needed. All the plumbing and heavy-duty electricity are in the stationary part of the apartment.
