Sharilar Starmyst was kidnapped, and through a ritual, unintentionally bonded to the Great Dark Beyond. Keeping her sanity through sheer force of will, she grew in power, slowly transforming and becoming more powerful with each additional tail, before ascending into an Elder God herself, bearing dominion over hope and forbidden knowledge. This is her journey.
Out of both a desire for vengeance and to ensure such a thing would never happen again, Sharilar began to take a more proactive role against the cults of the various Old Gods. Rather than travelling and responding to aid others when word came of their involvement, she began to seek them out herself, tracking them down to their lairs by following the magic traces they left behind, and eliminating them with the help of local adventurers. Each altar she found, she would sunder, ensuring they could never be used again.
With each altar destroyed and cult eradicated, she gradually became colder, more emotionally distant. What had started as a mission, slowly became an obsession.
These changes were more than just psychological, however. Unbeknownst to her, her body and soul were absorbing the leftover energies from each destroyed altar, soaking it in like a sponge. This was what finally led to her fourth tail manifesting, after the destruction of an altar belonging to a deep sea Old God and his fishfolk followers.
That fourth tail came as a surprise to her at first, as the growth of her magic's strength had been slow and subtle to that point. Turning her magical senses inward, she finally noticed the amount of void magic suffusing her had grown greatly, much more than she had even suspected previously. That shock allowed her to finally notice that the whispers in the back of her mind had grown darker, more violent. And worst of all, they spoke with her own voice....
This card represents anger, destruction, revenge, and giving in to one's darker impulses.
