Agent 1: "Who do you work for? Satan?!"
Agent 2: "How did you get to our world from the afterlife?"
Agent 1: "Why are you's killing humans?"
Agent 2: "When did you-?"
Tera: "Woah, woah, slow down. Let me take those one at a time." (deep breath) "Alright, I work for the law offices of Lepin & Legion. I got here by-"
Agent 1: "The who and the what now?"
Tera: "It's a law firm." (glances left and right)
Agent 2: "Why would the forces of Hell need a law firm?"
Tera: "Well, uh, anyone who would constitute a 'force' generally would have their own legal department, so most of our clients are independent individuals. You know, people who think their contracts are too vague or restricting."
(awkward pause)
Tera: "Pardon the expression, but... What the hell do you think we're doing down there?"
Tera: (head tilts) "Seriously? That's what humans think we're doing?"
Agent 2: "Well then what are you doing?"
Tera: "Surviving. Or... Trying to? I mean..." (shrugs) "Maybe there are some broke-ass low-IQ demons that like all that end times crap because it gives them hope, but..." (shakes his head) "I'm not one of them. Creating Hell on Earth won't change the fact that I live in Hell."
Agent 2: "Then why come to Earth? Why kill or corrupt people so much?"
Tera: (shrugs) "I dunno. Probably just making sure the Pride Ring maintains a steady population so it can act as a buffer between Heaven and the rest of Hell."
Agent 1: "Alright. And where did YOU fit into this?"
Tera: "I don't. I was just on Earth getting some food. You know, just in case Hell stuff isn't fit for human consumption."
Agent 1 and Agent 2 exchange glances.
Agent 1: "Want to elaborate on that?"
Tera: "And nobody could figure out how they got there, much less how to possibly send them back. So they... You know, just... Sort of wound up in my care. And... Like I said, I don't know if it's safe for them to eat food from Hell, so I've been coming up here to get food for them instead. Which is what I was doing when... This happened."
(pause)
Tera: "You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you? Or... At least where would be a good place for them on Earth?"
(pause)
Tera: "Hello? You guys okay?"
Agent 1 and Agent 2 are both frozen silent with jaws hanging open and wide eyes peeking over their sunglasses.
Tera: "Is something wrong?"
Agent 2: "No! No, uh, nothing."
Agent 1: "Yeah, we, uh... Wouldn't know anything about that."
Agent 2: "But, uh, thanks for looking after them. You're, uh..." (reaches up and pats his cheek) "You're a good boy."
Tera blushes and leans into the petting.
Tera is smiling and wagging his tail as both Agent 1 and Agent 2 pet him.
Agent 1: (half-whisper) "How is he such a good boy!?!"
Tera is still tied up, now with his head back and his eyes closed, snoring. Agent 1 and Agent 2 are watching him from behind the one-way mirror.
Agent 1: (turns to Agent 2) (half-whisper) "The kids are alive! And they're with him! He's the only cooperative demon we've ever found and if he finds out-"
Agent 2: (turns to Agent 1) (half-whisper) "He doesn't have to-"
While they are talking, a portal opens up right below Tera's chair, causing him to fall into it, and closes.
Agent 2: "We just play ignorant, put a tracer in a box of hot pockets or something, tell him we're letting him go and by the way here's something to take home for the kids, and we can find out how he's coming from Hell and back without him ever being the wiser."
They both look back to the window and see that he is gone.
Agent 1: "Buh..." (grabs his hair) "Where did he go?!!"
Quick scene change: Peryta and Carcha are both standing in front of an open portal. Tera is thrown out of it, tips over in his chair and lands on his face.
Tera: "Ow!" (looks up) "Who-what-now?"
Pertya and Carcha both look down at him with disapproving frowns. Peryta claps her hands twice and the portal closes.
Peryta: "Uncle Bungles, I presume?"
Tera blushes and frowns.
