-Creepy Classics-
no.1: The Creature and it's Bride - Frankenstein/Bride of Frankenstein
I said to myself at the beginning of this, if I'm going to do any of the classic, big names it horror it was going to be Frankenstein. Out of all the original Universal horror films, all of the Frankenstein films rank among my top favorites. (second only to The Invisible Man and well, I already drew him) I feel they hold up the best and have the least drag that, if we're all being honest with ourselves, most films of that era suffered from.
Even outside of the movie or even the book, I simply love the Universal look of Frankenstein's monster and by extension, the Bride. To me they encapsulate 'classic monster' and even the very term 'monster' itself. Maybe it's because Frankenstein was the birth of the sci-fi genre and was all about literally creating a monster, but something about the green skin, the flat top head and neck bolts just screams quintessential monster to me. I get more excited to see the creature then any other classic horror monster and to that, I simply had to give them top place in this sub-category... well that and the American Gothic reference was just too good to pass up!
