Original description: So... Here it is. Here's how things are gonna go from now on. After DeviantArt's awful behaviour, which I'll explain, I have made my final decision. I. Won't. Be. Leaving. This. Site.
REQUESTS
I will still use DeviantArt, but much more rarely. I won't do requests anymore because they've really taken up valuable time that I could have used to make actual art and of course becuase I was just
being used as an art bot by the Sonic fandom anyway. You know, THAT fandom full of scum and villainy and even downright criminal people. Yeah, do I really wanna associate with Sonic fans? No. Closing
requests was a hard choice to make, especially seeing how the likes of MihnPham2005 and VEXOORSPEED have given me some pretty good requests and actually admire my art. I'm going to be brutally honest
here, but requests have really messed me up mentally, and I have yet to recover my sleeping pattern too especially when there were those who took advantage of me and requested something immediately
again right after me finishing their previous request. I won't be doing any requests anymore. And I WON'T be accepting ANY on Newgrounds either. I'll keep requests open until 2023. I can't keep allowing
my health to be held back. I'll still complete EVERY request that I was previously given, but it was a hard choice and it's one I feel is for the better, especially considering how my efforts will be for
less after what DeviantArt recently did...
DA'S RECENT BEHAVIOUR
So, you may be asking. What did DeviantArt do that you consider "awful behaviour"? Let me explain. On November 8th Tuesday 2022, DeviantArt made the retarded (with a capital "R") decision to literally
flag EVERYONE'S art on the site save a few users who paid for the infamous core microtransactions as "mature content", basically rendering their site useless for anyone without an account or not logged in.
And guess what? They're using an ALGORITHM to do this juuuuuust like YouTube does. But why are DA doing this? Oh, because they want to put ads on their site and become more "brand friendly". Seriously,
which company in their right mind would touch this site knowing the stigma that's already attached to DA with all the weird images you can EASILY find on here, some of which I was RAILROADED into making
for Sonic's cult-like fandom? DA is literally trying to become Tumblr now. And it'll doom the site for real.
And then there's another recent problem. DeviantArt are allowing art thieves to use their AI art maker called DreamUp to basically scrounge up other people's Jazz-dam art and make their own ripoff image.
It's as horrible as it sounds. Thankfully there's an option to not allow these thieves to do this in the your art's edit page, but it's still really bad. Surprisingly, more people are leaving over this than
the mature content censorship garbage.
THE OTHER PROBLEMS
To be fair though, DeviantArt was already a dying site in the grand scheme of things on the internet. For example, their moderators would literally ignore the actions of users such as NuggetTheBalloonGirl
or other such dangerous users and allow their behaviour to go unchecked. Yikes! Swiftly moving on, we have core membership and subscriptions. Core membership is obviously a problem since it's literally
just microtransactions from the gaming industry put on a website. And there's plenty of ads that DA spams for this stupid feature as well, including one that is permanently slapped onto your page even
after you pay for core. Not to mention subscriptions follow the same thing with ad spam, except there's no quality control for the art you'll be paying for there. It's jarring for me to look at someone's
gallery these days only to see those stupid purple banners saying stuff like "check out these cool commissions. No scam!". And also DA apparently wants you to "sell your art" like NFTs these days as well.
CONCLUSION
Since DeviantArt has betrayed everyone who uses the site save for a tiny percentage of the people who they scammed out of their money, I won't be using or posting on this site as much anymore. I will
still be around, but not as much. I cannot trust this stupid site not to screw me over again. I will also close requests for good, too. Not just because of Sonic, but because of how much they've held me
up and delayed my other stuff to a ridiculous degree. Again, this was a hard decision, and I made it with a heavy heart. But I'll be using Newgrounds for my normal art from now on and Inkbunny for
inflation art if they allow me to. For anyone who follows me and enjoys my art, I understand that this was a hard announcement for you to read, but I feel really uncomfortable using trusting this site
anymore. Besides, you can find me on other sites in the future like Newgrounds so keep an eye out for me there.
And now, a message for DeviantArt. GROW. THE HELL. UP! Remove the mature flags off of all the users you unjustly censored, quit spamming ads for microtransactions and other money stealing schemes,
and put heavy penalties in place for AI artists. You've lost my trust through your IMmature behaviour, but maaaaaybe you could win back the trust of other users before it is too late.
And with that, my DeviantArt saga is over. 2020-2022.
Well, I sure love how I drew myself going to Newgrounds, I'll give myself that. But yeah just a recap to what this big 2022 incident that happened was about. November 8th 2022: DeviantArt forces the mature tag on ALL art on every account on the site for zero reason, caused me to start to leave their site slowly as well as spend more time on Newgrounds. Eventually they undid that crap after getting caught and things went back to normal for a while.
Happily, the drama did at least open me up to going to other sites like Newgrounds to do stuff there instead. And it also kind of saved me from a hopeless forever war against constant requests from greedy users and worse. In fact, the whole incident caused me to actually close requests when 2023 arrived, with only those I considered close friends allowed to still request, and I even made an announcement where I told everyone to request while we were still in 2022 which was at least very kind of me. Of course I got LOADS of requests but that was to be expected. And any not finished when 2023 came around would be done anyway just to be fair to the requester. And let me tell ya, I sure did spend a portion of 2023 doing those remaining requests.
Since these new sentences are a retrospective where I look over at my old art, I must say that now things over at DeviantArt since 2022 have gotten far worse, to the point that it's pretty much useless to even upload there anymore without your art being used for AI NFT garbage (I swear I saw an image there once that shamelessly used Puff Plum's colours once) or automatically harassed with an unecessary mature tag. In a way, I truly did quit DeviantArt after all, even if it did take until 2024 to truly push me off that dying site. It won't last long, considering that it doesn't have a monopoly status as a life support like YouTube does. In fact, not needing to worry about DeviantArt has actually made me much happier in fact, so really those bullies just shot themselves in the foot even harder. Good.
Suffer. DeviantFart. Suffer.
