“The name is Lucifer the Dark, Enforcer of Justice, Demon Overlord and server of the best spirits this planet has to offer. Would you like something to drink?”

Very few magical beings in the Yorktown story universe are as old as Lucifer, as old as there's intelligent life on Earth. He is a powerful dark spirit, whose form is determined by the stories people tell about him. Lucifer is often wrongfully depicted by several religions as an evil being, even being the source of all evil in the world. That couldn't be further from the truth; Lucifer is merely doing the dirty work in this world by punishing the souls of those who did great evils, giving them their own personal hell to live through as a punishment for their misdeeds.

However, his job encompasses more than that: he's also a firm believer in second chances. Whenever he comes across a corrupted soul, but not corrupted enough that they can't be saved, he may recruit them as one of his demons. These demons have been given a second chance to right their wrongs and work for Lucifer to catch the truly evil souls for him, granting them a bit of his magic to help them. Once that debt has been paid to him, they can live on as "Free Demons", who keep all the magic perks of their demonhood, but are no longer tied to serve him. But if these demons decide to take the wrong path again, Lucifer may punish them for it and end their second chance for good.

If, however, you ever come across him as a good soul, he is very friendly. Even his lair reflects this side of him, as it appears to anyone who he invites in as a cosy pub. He has a large collection of drinks of all kind, with and without alcohol, and will serve you some of the best drinks you've ever had. A lot of Free Demons frequent his pub, and would describe him as a cheerful drinking buddy. He's also the patron spirit of the Dullahans, who voluntarily swore allegiance to him and as a reward, got their potent magic powers from him.

Lucifer is deeply in love with another ancient spirit, Astra the Light, who is his opposite counterpart. The two have been together for at least three millenia, and Lucifer that Astra's love is one of the reasons that he doesn't fall into depression due to his dark duty. Both of them showed themselves in Earth's darkest hour, trying to save the planet from a worse fate. In the end, both Astra and Lucifer want the same thing: a world were good souls prevails, and evil loses.
