It's exactly how I picture Twilight Sparkle. The ponies in that town ARE crazy. Everyone has lost their mind at one point or another. But Twilight is overdue for severe craziness. They has that buried potential for uncontrolled magic. Fueled by her FEELING after so much repression, well... That's what birthed the confrontation in town square.
