Part of the speed of their relationship I think stems from there being a genuine spark between them both, also Moggy being effected by the loneliness. I think there's also an element of connection from watching each other from a distance for months!
As for the demons world/society, did you see anything notable to compare to how it's shown in Snow Princess?

I agree that Moggy's loneliness was a contributor to him making fast friends wherever he could--which, from perspective of the wizard's council, is another reason to send two people at a time for a job like this.
I think that there were hints of Japanese-inspired culture in both this and Snow Princess, but for the most part in the two stories, we're seeing very different slices of demon culture, so it's a bit of an apples and rugs comparison.
