Our pet rat Ripley died yesterday from a chronic lung infection resistant to treatment. We kept her for 3 years though and that's a pretty good life for a rat. She had what they call an Agouti coat with Dumbo ears. She is survived by her brothers Alpha and Victor, black and hooded rats respectively. She is memorialized by a clay tablet with her foot impressions and ashes.
Ripley was a very special family member to us. She was very friendly and always social and loving. She responded to her name and gave many kisses. Her favorite food was plain spaghetti noodles. She loved to explore outside her cage and pretend to be wild or visit with the family. She was fearless and lived up to her namesake if bothered by the other rats or the dog appearing to say "Get away from me, you bitch!" Occasionally she would cross section telephone cords whether or not they were plugged in. Maybe it was their noodle-like appearance. Since then, Alpha has taken up that habit.
This picture was taken at the emergency vet clinic during Ripley's final moments. My mate
pandra is holding her. She has some more pictures too. I just love the expressions on both their faces.
Goodbye Ripley. You will be sorely missed.

I understand pal...I got 2 more mice now, but this was my loved last pet http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5524668/
i know exactly how you feel, we had this really old female rat, every time you held her or have your hand near her, she would lick you, she was huge and was white with a black head and a black stripe down her back, we called her farahma, she died of old age, she was around 4 1/2 years old, it sucked....*hugs you*
What an interesting name. I wonder if it means anything? So she was a Hooded rat. Without the stripe down the back, they are Capped. You must have taken good care of her to live so long. It's never easy to lose a family member. I know this sounds terrible, but I've felt worse losing certain pets, including Ripley, than I have about losing blood relatives.
