A gang of trick-or-treating dragons is not a reassuring sight in the DMFA world. Partly because they're all gone in the Project Future timeframe, but also because they tried to wipe out Jakob's race.
These dragons, however, are the main cast from Pax Draconica, plus Terry (who will hopefully appear in a future Pax Draconica story).
Fardon is at the back, Mermul on the left, Terry on the right and Fiskul the Devourer in the middle.

Biggs and Destania happened to them. When I first started writing Project Future I asked if there were any major changes to the shape of the world, say 150 years after DMFA (since if the 'Cubi race was wiped out, it rather made the story impossible). And I was told that there would be no more dragons. Even before that, we'd seen that Destania and Biggs have their master plan to end the dragon race (p.726), so ever since then I've been working on the assumption that they succeeded.
My educated guess is that they change the parameters of the universe slightly. Just like how something switched off and made ascension virtually impossible, and sent the Angel race into a death spiral - I'm assuming that they manage to contrive something that affects dragons similarly, probably sickening them outright since dragons have indefinite lifespans so stopping them reproducing won't work.
I would like to think that the dragons' private realm is real and that many of them escaped to that before the effects could kill them, but I'm absolutely guessing by this point.
Now, since then we've learned that Biggs literally has the power to bulk-erase dragonkind from existence if he can convince people he can do that. It's also possible that Mab has changed course in the intervening 17 years, and the dragons are off the chopping block. In which case, that's what happened in the PF alternate universe.
