Xabiere is a silly alien guy who'd come to Earth from the simple fact that he thought it looked neat.
He comes from a very large family, 9 other siblings who were was always cared for more or better than he was. He was 'the trouble child', always eating things he shouldn't, marking up the walls, drinking his father's cologne.... It was safe to say he was locked in his room most days, and when he wasn't, he was either being ignored or being chastised for his misbehavior.
He had trouble in school too. It was hard for him to pay attention in class and he barely ever got work done. No one was there to help him, however, and now he only knows how to read very simple literature and his mathematics skill doesn't go past the 5th grade. He still has a drive to learn new things though, even if it's hard for him to understand or remember sometimes.
Now, on Earth, his partners usually have to teach him things or leave him with someone when they leave him in their house as it's very likely he'll get back into his habits from childhood, especially his eating habits (he has very strong stomach acids, so he's fine, but some people don't appreciate having their expensive makeup supplies eaten up).
He is very happy where he's at now, even with the occasional look of disappointment from Narcis or the gentle scolding from Joe. Everyone else is happy to have him too. He loves making people smile or help them grab things on high shelves. Sometimes, he purposefully loses matches just because his opponent gets so pumped.
