It has been less than an hour since I arrived at the Amagi Brilliant Park, and I’d already been met with a variety of surprises. Less than a minute after I arrived for my orientation at the front desk, I had met Isuzu Sento, a girl that carried a large gun that she called a “magical musket”, and also I had met a furry, mouse like creature, who stood around half my height. At first, I had assumed that this cute mouse was just a human employee in a costume, but I was curious how, his mouth moved when he talked. I was informed by Isuzu and by the mouse himself, that the mascots of this park were not just humans in suits, those cute animal suits, were actually their true forms. They were fairies, from a kingdom called Maple Land. In order to live on earth without raising suspicions, they’d taken up roles as mascots at Amagi Brilliant Park: the park which I had just responded to a job offer to be the new manager of.
There was a lot I still wanted to ask, but the most pressing question was something I heard Isuzu say offhand.
“So, Isuzu, you said earlier, that Moffle and the other fairies will no longer be able to live here, if the park continues to have such low attendance. Is that… why you wanted to hire me as the manager?” I asked.
“Well, that was one of the reasons, among other things. The park just lacks strong leadership in general.” Isuzu said with a blank expression. She looked down to Moffle affectionately as she said this next part: “But, yes, I think all of us would prefer if the fairies could continue existing here in your world. But if the park falls into any further obscurity then… Well, I guess we’d have to go back to Maple Land.”
My heart sunk as I heard her say this. I had only just gotten to know the fairies of this park, but I had already fallen for them. I didn’t want them to have to leave earth, especially if they didn’t want to. I got down on my knees so I was at Moffle’s height, and held his paw in my hand.
“Moffle, I would be honored to be the new manager. I will do everything I can to boost the attendance of the park, I promise!” I said with a smile as I shook his paw gently in my hand.
Moffle gave me a soft smile: “Thank you Komugi. You’re a very thoughtful girl. I look forward to working with you.” Moffle said.
Before Moffle, Isuzu and I were able to continue talking, there was suddenly a fourth member of the park who had approached, and called out to me. She was a small young lady with blond hair, and a beautiful dress. (Continues...)
