“-and this here displays how hard it is to triangulate a location within an ENTIRELY SEPARATE GALAXY from our own, and how it takes time to truly discern where exactly one will end up and how important it is one takes that time and doesn’t just go jumping for the heck of i-, Are you even listening to me?!?!” Shade yelled, turning back to the two as Eria meeped and pushed her fingers together while Ankhata rolled her eyes.
“I don’t even have these powers, that’s her thing, why am I getting the talking too?” Ankhata grumbled, Shade reddening with frustration as his finger slammed back down on the white board.
“Because you STILL did a paracausal jump and didn’t know ANY of the warning signs of it happening! And this almost resulted in you taking out half a continent if not worse! And who knows how those ‘death powers’ of yours might evolve in the future! You need to know this stuff in case you slip into the spirit stream or something and pop out in a completely different world you don’t recognize! ESPECIALLY IF THAT WORLD IS HOSTILE!” Shade barked, slamming his finger into the board under the word ‘safety’ over and over and over.
“I can’t go get you if you keep dropping off the dam map cause people keep sucking out your powers! And it would be SO much nicer if you could get yourself BACK instead! I set up these rules for a REASON!” He yelled, before finally huffing and breathing as Eria gingerly let one of her hands drift down to rub along his back.
“I-I’m sorry for putting you through all this worry…I-I thought I could help..” Eria muttered, looking down sheepishly at the Drolf who just let out a big long sigh and lifted one of his hands to rub the bridge of his nose.
“It’s…fine, you’re fine. You didn’t know, neither of you did, but that’s why I’m trying to impart this on you so strongly!” He huffed, giving a look up to Ankhata who continued to drift her eyes upward, but let her expression soften just a little bit.
“I take personal responsibility for all the inhabitants that have found themselves here under my care, I rather like your presences a lot, and I don’t want to see you all vanish without me at least knowing about it first!” He huffed, folding his arms as Ankhata let out a slight huff and a tail thwap on the floor. Shade accepted that much, and turned to look at Eria more directly.
“Besides, YOU now very much need to know this. You have your own little ‘planeshift’ power now, and you VERY much need to know the EXACT specifics behind it. It’s not exactly a wide spread thing you know, and Em seems to think you’re a good bean. So while I don’t know you a TONE yet I don’t want you blipping to some desolate world and disappearing, especially since I don’t want any governmental entity storming this place thinking I took you.”
“I know….I knowwww…” Eria said slowly, looking even more distraught and sad about all of this. She had just wanted to help…but her doing so had almost cost this ‘Ankhata’ her unlife, and cost Shade a lot of restless nights. She just wished all this information could be downloaded into her verses this slow method of verbal demonstration…
“But, with all that being said, I think I’ve gone over the ‘gist’ of it.” Shade sighed, rubbing his nose again before clapping his hands together. “And it’s not too productive to have me try and continue when SOMEONe’s not even paying attention and the other has a processing speed almost faster than light. So I think I’ll compile the specifics into an electronic format for you Eria, and let Ankhata here get back to scouring more essence.” Shade huffed, Ankhata already turned to leave the room, as Shade hrmfed at her. “I’m sure such an ancient mind would have trouble wrapping her head around the numbers anyway.” Shade muttered with a bit of vitriol, Ankhata turning back to stick her long snake-like tongue out at him, with Shade giving her a ‘hrmf!’ in response and turning up his nose. Ankhata rolled her eyes then one final time before continuing to slither out of the room.
“Don’t let ‘the mage’ bore you too much there Eria, he’s got quite the running mouth on him when he starts thinking he knows more than you.”
“At least I ACTUALLY COMMUNICATE!” Shade called after her, stomping his foot a bit in annoyance as he hrmfed and folded his arms even tighter, Eria still working to rub his back to calm him down as she chuckled a bit with a light sigh.
“You two don’t like each other much huh?” she smirked slightly, Shade sighing and rubbing his nose some more with his arms still partly folded.
“No no, she’s rather alright. Our personalities just grate on each other is all, she’s very ‘holier than thou’ and I’m rather ‘set in my ways’ and data driven (probably got a decently big head due to that too at times..), so when we both have a strong opinion that clashes we tend to, well, have that happen.” He sighs, shaking his body all over a bit to work out the nerves before clapping his hands together again. “When we agree we can be quite the force, but when we don’t, we can be much the same in the opposite direction…BUT anyway, let me get to compiling that data for you.” He chuckled, flicking his fingers to draw out a few runes, as a few ghost hands went flying off to his PC to start generating the files and data necessary.
“I-I do appreciate it…I think that will be better, be nice to be able to just ‘plug that in’ to my existing internal formula…I do hope I’ll be able to get back to them. The individuals over there were so nice, I’d like to help them out more if I can…and overall just not be completely separated from them.”
“Ahh yeah that’s right, you wanna jump back there…you said there was a wolf that ‘looked kinda like’ me over there yeah?” Shade nodded, looking at the board and half paying attention as he focused on directing his ghost hands to work through the data dump.
“Yeah! Had a similar name to you too, Shaid. Didn’t have the dragon bits though…and he seemed a good bit different in personality.”
“Innnteresting….so there are more I have yet to find out there…how intriguing.” Shade chuckled, grinning to himself as he turned a bit more of his attention back to Eria. “I think I’d be able to help you out then. Maybe even establish a proper ‘link’ if I can get the fluctuations down.”
“O-ohh?!? REALLY?!?” Eria flailed, her hand moving from his back to his shoulder, and turning him to fully face him as she grabbed his other shoulder. “You really could?!?”
“EFFPf, y-yeah? I mean I connected this world to the RPGverse pretty easily, and I’ve been studying the mists there to help hone my craft as best I could. I see no reason, especially with a Shade there, that I couldn’t connect this world with the one you just came fro-arFFF!”
“OOH THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOUUU!” Eria squealed, grabbing Shade up in a hug and squeezing him tightly to her chest. “It would be so nice to have this be in such capable hands as yours, verses trying and possibly failing to do it myself. Ohh thank you, thank youuuu!”
“AFEH, it’s, rmff, nothinggggfeeee!” Shade sputtered, his body and face fully shoved into Eria’s chest now as he fought against his urge to just lose himself to the squish currently befalling him. “H-hapyyyefee GRFf to do ittt!”
“AAAAa” Eria squealed some more, clutching Shade even tighter before a ping hit her mind. She mrffed a bit from its presence, and sighed as she ‘tabbed over’ to it mentally. “Heck…I was wondering how long it would take…”
“They finally, rmff, contact you?” Shade asked, being let down with a bit of a ‘hrmf..’ from her chest, as she nodded and sent a quick reply back.
“Yeah…they want me back immediately and want to know where I’ve been and why I haven’t been checking in. I should probably get going pretty soon…that transcription gonna be do-”
“-ne now? Yep, here ya gooo!” Shade grinned, holding out a flash drive a ghost hand had brought over to him. Eria chuckled, gripping the tiny device in her large fingers, and gingerly bringing it up to and then ‘plugging’ it into her ear.
“Daww thank you-..op, you weren’t kidding, these are MASSIVELY complex…though I don’t know what I expected from ‘literal transplaner travel’.” Eria chuckled, grinning as she gingerly took the flash out and handed it back to Shade. “I got the info though, I think I’ll need my internal processor to go over it a few times…especially when it comes to mapping it to my existing program VERY carefully…but I greatly appreciate you going through all this trouble!”
“No problem at all, happy to be of service.” Shade chuckled, giving her a salute. Eria gave him one back out of instinct, before flushing a bit and chuckling as he continued to do the same. “Feheh, I’ll contact you once I think I got a proper portal ready. For now, go ‘spin your yarn’ and what not to your superiors.”
“I’ll most certainly try…here’s hoping I can string together enough visuals to keep them from digging too deep into me…” Eria chuckled dryly, it being Shade’s turn now to put a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
“You got this, and if you don’t, I’ll have your back.” He chuckled with a wink, letting his hand pull away to reveal a rather intricately carved rune. Eria would meep at it a little bit, especially as it faded from her form.
“W-wa-”
“A ‘access key’, probably the best way to describe it. Keeps you from all the natural ‘defenses’ here, and lets you return when I call you/lets me call you in the first place.” Shade grinned, Eria nodding slowly before hrfming.
“I-in that case…it should probably be here.” Eria pointed at her crystal. “The rest of me is a ‘chassis’ more or less, this is the only part of me that’s me.”
Shade blinked a bit, looking from Eria’s face, to her chest, then back again. Then he thought for a moment, before letting his head bounce up slightly.
“OOOOOOOHHhhhhh.” Shade laughed, before flicking his finger as the rune showed up again. It flicked on top of Eria’s crystal, sitting there a moment before vanishing once more, with Shade giving her a wink again.
“And here I thought that was just for energy, you are quite the special automation there Eria.” Shade grinned, Eria chuckling and grinning back with a bit of a blush.
“S-so I’ve been told, hehe. But yes.” Eria hrmfed, getting another ping as she began to get up. “Well, I’d love to chat more, but they are yelling at me. ‘Why isn’t your locator moving’, gosh, let a girl breathe a little.” She huffed, Shade chuckling and making a waving motion with his hands.
“Alright there Eria, it’s been an absolute pleasure! I’ll get my ghost hands to put your armor on as you leave, tell them ‘I was putting back on my peripherals’ or something.” He nodded, Eria chuckling and nodding back.
“I might just do that. Thanks Shade, be seeing ya! I’ll eagerly await your callll!” She called to him, Shade waving as she left his study.
As she did so, making her way down the stairs, Shade kept to his word, ghost hands flowing over her body as they stuck and folded her armor and latex-kevlar covering over her body. She felt the helmet snuggly rest against her head, and chuckled as everything mag locked into place.
She then ducked under the main door frame, before starting up her jet boosters. Thankfully, with Shades' weird ‘partly extra planer’ manor, she should have just enough fuel to pop out next to her base and fly her way back to it. She wasn’t entirely looking forward to how much she’d have to sweet talk the brass…but she still lifted into the air with a flutter in her heart.
She would get to see her friends again, she would get to see the Super verse again. And she couldn’t wait for that day, letting a squee exit her mechanical throat, before she lifted up, spun in the air, and jetted off and away toward her base.
Anddd a bit of epilogue that I fully wrote! :3 fheeh, this being a continuation of this after they got some time to settle (and Ankhata got some time to 'recharge' :3c). There will be more story after this with a few more images of various things happening (gotta get to that call back you know! ; v ; ) but I just got this for now! The other pieces shouldn't take NEARLY as long to happen though...depending xD. BUT yeah, I rather enjoyed writing this a lot! ; v ; was fun getting to be a proper 'self insert' for once, fheehe, and I rather enjoyed all the dynamics on display. But yeah! Hope those that read this 'back to back' don't have the emotional gut wrench of the previous story feel any less heavy >//>; but come on, I can't just 'leave it like that' right? It's so much more fun to wrap em alll together! :3 fehehe.
But yes! Another wonderful lil chibi image done by
