Neglected Kitten Needs a Home! North AL Furs!!! Help!

This little kitten was found by my sister-in-law in Athens AL at her apartment complex. The mother had a litter in an empty apartment, and was captured by some of the apartment workers, who released her into the woods and left the kittens sealed up in the apartment to slowly starve to death. By the time my sister-in-law got someone to let her into the apartment, this was the only kitten still alive, and had only survived the hot temperatures in the heat-box apartment by drinking stagnant water from the toilet.
This baby has been severely traumatized and needs a home very badly. The apartment workers have said that if she gives them the kitten they will take it to the woods and drop it off for "its mom to find it", but the kitten is barely old enough to be weaned. He purrs whenever he is picked up, and loves attention. She is trying to feed him meaty baby food, and he is eating small pieces of mashed up meat, but she is not allowed to keep the kitten, and is being pressured to have it brought to a shelter. All of the local no-kill shelters are full with animals from the recent disasters, and there is no where else for her to turn.
Anyone who can help this poor kitten please let me know, he needs a home ASAP. After seeing his siblings die of starvation he deserves more than to die alone after sitting in a cage in a kill shelter.

..Why don't you just bring it to the shelter? If it's situation is as dire as you describe, I think a humane society would be best.

Unfortunately, the no-kill shelters in the area don't take animals right now. We would much rather find it a good home than send it somewhere where it will most likely be put down. He may have to go there in the end, but it will NOT be a first recourse.

I cannot take the kitten as I am not in that state. However I would suggest for your friend, until it is found a home to get kitten forumal powdered milk (can be got from a vet or some pet stores) and have her mix it up to make it a liquid and then once it is liquid make a mash from specifically dry kitten food. It will help him gain weight and get the nutrients he needs as if he were really drinking mom's milk. If he is able to eat the little pieces of meat mash then this will be better and easier for his system to digest.

The no-kill shelters are full, and until it's in a better condition, the regular shelters won't expend money to get it back to health before they put it down. We're trying to find a home for him before we turn to a shelter.

And I suggest you refrain from making ignorant comments (especially since the "you" in your comment suggests that you didn't even read the artist's note). For your information, my friend is the one holding this kitten (and she has a lot of experience doing so), and it was not in an uncomfortable position. She put in on a cushion, then lifted its front end (while its back was still on the cushion) for a few short seconds so she could get most of its head and body in the picture (because she was worried about its head size in proportion to its body because of the malnourishment issue). It was purring the entire time. And this is obviously not the way she holds it when it's not being photographed....
I would love to if I didn't have two cats and wasn't in MN... But do what you can to help the poor thing!

Perhaps you could contact a shelter in another state to see if they will take it. If so maybe transportation for the kitten can be arranged to the out of state shelter. If that is not possible, ask around with the local horse barns, many of them are usually willing to take on another barn cat. Keep us posted, do not bring it to a shelter.
