May I offer you a chonky lynx warrior in these trying times? :P
I generally tend to always draw lean body types, so this was sketch was some great practice for heaver body types.
This guy is most likely a champion in his tribe, an absolute unit of a warrior. Don't let his size fool you, he can be quick and lethal!

Wait,
alfyn didn't get you to draw more of that hyena fella? I'd like to get that corrected one of these days! Any chance that's possible?

One of my local ones https://westernnews.media.clients.e.....6b01a9d617b3e9 hope the link works to the lynx
Did you know, written accounts (and knowledge we acquired regarding their diet) make historians believe that Roman gladiators were probably fat in one way or another! I did a lot of research for fanfic writing, and the papers I could access (unfortunately, sci-hub and associated websites are blocked in my country…) were very interesting!
That paunch just means he has buffs against slashing and blunt force attacks! This guy's obviously won enough battles to earn extra meals, so a scarred dad-bod would be a thing to be wary of back in the day.
Fun Fact:
Roman Gladiators often had a generous layer of 'padding' so they could give the spectators blood but not get seriously hurt. A slice to the fupa or muffin-top would bleed aesthetically, but wouldn't damage any important parts and was far easier to clean and stitch.

This piccie makes me think of the Saying- " 'ware the Olde Warrior, for they have survived in a life that sees the young/fit die far too easily!" (Close as I can recall it).
Personally, I LUV tummy's, and the huggleableness just begs to be appreciated!
I used to tour around various groups who built/sparred in authentic armor/padded weaponry. I've held a Roman shield, and though I'm a Woman (Who was actually quite fit back then), I couldn't imagine, in a thousand years, carrying the damned thing for any distance, much less trying to fight while wielding it!
I'm much closer to the Gaelic targe (Small, usually round 'Buckler' style device). Excellent close-quarters use, light weight, and they USUALLY have either a pointy-pointy bit in the center, or sharpened edges (For slashing).
Still, that's a handsome Lynx! I'd love to spoil him rotten after the melee!

people always assume that fat must mean unfit...
but in a society where food is scarce, a paunchy belly may be a sign of success... on a warrior or a hunter? it's a trophy of their skills and prowess.
They're good enough to be able to eat well enough to get that belly in the first place!
