Once again, Halloween had arrived. After sundown, Remy dressed in his costume and prepared to go trick-or-treating with his friends. For a while, he had been the talk of the town after saving them from the terrifying zombie invasion.
Bradley and Richard were there to greet him at his front door. They ran up and hugged him.
"Happy Halloween, Mr. Hero!" cried Bradley. "That was really cool how you handled those zombies."
Remy smiled. "Thanks, you guys. Come on, let's get going and meet the others.
"Don't you want to stop at some houses first?" asked Richard.
"Well, sure," said Remy. "I just don't want to wait too long."
They had agreed to meet with Kyle and Scott over on Maple Drive. They tried to put their close encounter from last year out of their minds.
When they reached their short cut through the park, they moved quickly cautiously aware of their surroundings.
"What's that?" asked Remy.
Up ahead they saw two figures fiddling with what looked like a satellite dish.
Richard grabbed his shoulder. "Let's not," he said. "Just keep moving and stay on track."
But Remy's curiosity had gotten the better of him. He walked towards the large dish.
Remy recognized them. "Kit? Marty?"
They turned around. "Oh, hi, guys!" said Marty. "What's going on?"
"I was going to ask you guys the same thing."
"Well," said Kit Jr., "after last year's event, we decided to return here and try to make contact with the aliens that stole our trousers."
Remy became alarmed. "I see," he said nervously. "Well, we better get going."
"Wait," said Marty. "Don't you want to see our satellite in action?"
"Maybe some other time." said Bradley.
"Hang on, hang on," said Kit Jr. "We brought it with us down from Boston."
"See? Watch," said Marty as he entered the code on the dish.
The satellite dish hummed and came to life.
Marty typed in their message: "Greetings from planet Earth. Do you recall taking our trousers from us last year? Well, we wish for you to give them back. That's all we ask."
The message was sent into the deep vastness of space.
Remy and his friends looked at one another and smiled.
"I'll admit," said Richard, "that was pretty impressive."
"Thanks," said Marty, "though we still have to work out some of the-"
ZAP!!
Marty was suddenly electrocuted while checking the circuits.
"Are you okay, Marty?!" asked Kit Jr.
Marty staggered forward, dizzy and frayed. "Walk like an Egyptian," he sang.
"I'd say he's fine," said Bradley.
"Look!" cried Remy pointing up at the sky.
Two glowing orbs were hovering over them. The boys stood in horror. "Not again! cried Remy.
They were all caught in a beam of light. They stood as if in a trance. As fast as they appeared, the ships took off.
When the boys came to their senses, they looked down to see their pants were missing.
"Not again!" cried Bradley. They all stood red in the face and terrified.
What do we do now?" asked Richard.
"We've come too far to back out now," said Remy. "So let's just hurry up and meet with Kyle and Scott. If they ask, we'll just tell them it's a Halloween joke."
Richard and Bradley, though scared, nodded in agreement. They took off running up the park.
Kit Jr. listened to the coded message. It was full of static. "Greetings from planet Earth. Take... our trousers from us... That's all we ask."
Kit Jr. palmed his face and groaned. "We sure blew it didn't we, Marty?"
Marty was still discombobulated from the shock.
"Come on, we need to get some new pants."
Marty looked puzzled. "What are pants?"
