A picture of Half Dome from the Glacier Point road at Yosemite National Park. It's tough, but I tried to take original vantage points and shots while there. This is one I think I was a bit more successful in that goal.
I'm torn on this image. I like it, but I need to play with it some more to get rid of the telltale HDR glowing edges. I think with that tweak, this picture will be where I want it to be.
What I did: 3 image custom BW HDR (0, +/-2 EV) in Photomatix. Upped the brightness and contrast a tad in CS5, and unsharp mask (200%, 0.2, 0).

If your talking the tell tail HDR glowing edges, that isn't because of an unsharp mask. I haven't done an HDR in a while, and I forget what 1 or 2 settings cause that, but it isn't unsharp mask. Now, unsharp mask CAN cause that, but it looks quite a bit different than the tell tail glowing HDR edges.
