Recently I posted a couple sketches of an alien fighter for some pre-production concept art for a television series proposal. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5803486/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5803512/ Well all those little fighters had to operate from some larger base or ship. Here is one of several larger ship designs I came up with for the Hargo space armada.
As I stated in an earlier posting I was doing these designs back in 1997 and i was dead set on not having the Hargo ships look anything like the Shadow ships from Babylon 5. However I did want them to have a rather organic and insect-like appearance to offset the very artificial/ mechanical look of the Earth Force craft.
Like the smaller fighters one of the main weapons of the larger Hargo ships was the large faceted weapon spheres which could fire in wide arcs to attack enemy vessels or protect the ship from assault.

I kinda had a similar weapon concept going for the Nova Emitter of my ship design Shadow Fang, it wasn't spherical, but a set of emitter's mounted into the prow of the ship, that unlike a cannon barrel, would be able to fire at extreme arcs, without the limits of mechanically having to position a barrel, providing more precise, and responsive shots. I don't have my Shadow Fang picture posted, but you reminded me that I should
