The Steel Mountains
Boarder Of Arboria
Kristi, Megan, Solana, Melina and Tarsin looked out towards the steel mountains. Dusk was coming to Lunita. The monorail train had covered the distance in a few hours. Tarsin had said it was a good idea to stop on the boarder. Even in the forests there were deadly and dangerous things. The swaps contained quick sand and some of the local fauna did not care for what they ate.
Melina brought the train to a halt near to the inner edge of the forest, Arboria was the lands of the squirrels and others who chose to call the place home. Most of the homes were high in the trees away from the ground. At some point a small monorail station had been built there, for what they were unsure. Quite a bit of it was in ruin and a few holes in the floor led to large falls.
At least they had found a small case of dried food and such on the train. It was a puzzle who or what put it there. Tarsin had pointed out that an emergency supply was found on most of the train in case a operator was needed, such operators were normally a guard or someone trusted at the mines.
“What do we do now?” questioned Megan.
“Going anywhere near the ground would not be good, we need to stay in the trees above ground as much as possible” Tarsin explained.
“Can’t we stay in the train?” asked Kristi.
“I’m not sure that’s a good idea, sooner or later this train will be missed and possibly recalled. I doubt we want to be aboard if that happens” Melina commented.
“Yes well, at least someone has been here, there’s a small out post hut nearby. We might need to repair the bridge from the stop here” Solana said.
A little away from the small station was a large hut, it had seen better days at some point. At least it was dry and the five of them could fit within the hut, which the found was quite large.
“A hearth was in the center a large stone slab that someone must have hauled up ages ago. The dusk air was starting to cool as two large moons started to rise into the sky.
“How do you think the others are getting on?” wondered Kristi.
Solana looked over to the fox/wolf hybrid, she pursed her lips as she spotted Megan watching her.
“I’m sure Doctor Nazani, will be fine as for Grace she seems quite intelligent and resourceful. I’m sure they will both be fine. I suspect they both will be causing their captors some trouble” grinned Solana.
“I do hope so” answered Megan.
“You think it’s safe to light a fire, I mean we could make some other than the revolting stew they give us”
“A small one yes, but keep it small we can do without any more surprises. I’ll be outside we need to keep an eye out” replied Tarsin.
A few moments later the group had started a small fire and were heating up the protein and soup they found in the train. It tasted much better than the stuff they ate the last few days. With full stomachs the group lay down and soon fell asleep. Night was soon on them and it was quite,
It was well after local midnight that Solana woke, she took Tarsin’s place. She watched and looked out for anything strange.
“It’s been quite, not sure we’ll see anyone before dawn anyway. I’d be surprised if Prince Arden is not already aware of us”
Tarsin reheated the soup and tasted it, he gulped it down quickly before laying down to sleep. He had to admit it tasted better than the stuff they normally had.

Kingdom of Valkr
Reina Mistbreeze considered her next move, moving her chess knight she sat back. Some said the ponies of Valkr were just automata. This of course was not true, her father Jin Mistrbreeze had earned Emperor Jolon’s ire.
Whatever had taken place Reina had put together herself, normally Jolon’s fleet would have just blasted the kingdom from orbit as he normally did. Instead he had an experimental virus released over the Kingdom.
The virus targeted the pony population, turning the first few layers of flesh to metal. The population did not take it to well but many where still alive compared to being blasted. Perhaps they had gotten off lightly unlike some other kingdoms.
Reina sighed, chess was just not doing it for her today. She waved the guard away. After a few moments she made her way to the privet bath.
The bath was large enough for three or four people. A bronze colored pony waited for her as Reina undressed and slipped into the warm bath. It would have been nice to just relax. After a few moments the videocom came on. On it was Prince Thral, the two kingdoms had been loose friends for a while now, the hawkman probably wanted something.
“Prince Thral, to what do we owe the pleasure?”
=^= Greetings Princess Mistbreeze, my father sends his greetings, we wish to increase the amount of grain we buy from you by another ten standard tons =^=
Reina ran a hand though her sliver hair, most of her body was silver but for her golden eyes. Her nipples were a darker grey as was her genitals. She bit back a rude retort, she never knew why the hawkman always managed to catch her in the bath. She knew she was safe she like the others of her kind would not be affected by rust.
“If that’s everything I hope you don’t mind me breaking the connection” commented Reina.
“I can’t think of anything else, I believe our business is concluded” replied Thral.
The screen went blank as the Hawkman vanished.
Reina was glad he was gone, given time Valkr would invade the Hawkman kingdom. For now they were out of their league. Going against Jolon was out of the question for now as well. They needed at least another year to be on the level of that. For now they would bide their time, and wait the technology of the Hawkmen was impressive she knew. If they took the Hawkmen and their flying cities perhaps it would be enough to tip the balance.
For now thy would placate Jolon, buy time and keep his suspicions away from them. Few places could withstand an unwanted visit from the Imperial Home Fleet. For now Reina sank into the warm waters and let such troubles float away with the fragrant soap bubbles.

“Perhaps Prince Arden but strange things happen here on Lunita these days”
“Yes well what should I do Pel, I mean if they are here do I execute them or send them back to Jolon. He knows we are planning something better to keep him as my friend...for now”
“Princess Aria, loves you Arden, you have her eye and her favour. Plus you know she has an interest with them. Her eyes never left them in the throne room at the presentations”
“Aria is a viper she never knows what she wants, her tastes can be dangerous”
“As they should be, she maybe a viper but she hates her father just as much as you do. She is Jolon’s daughter after all the apple does not fall from the tree. If you execute or return the people to Jolon, you may calm his fears somewhat but anger Aria, you buy Arboria time”
“Be careful Pel, you might be my childhood friend and fool, but don’t assume to much”
“Aggedor forbid me going to far, but you know I’m right my Prince”

Kristi, Megan, Solana, Melina and Tarsin had woken a few hours before the mono train was gone, probably recalled during the night. At some point the rail ahead had been broken by something. Beyond the break was the drive portion of a train. It had been there while, Kristi, Megan and Solana had needed help to get over the gap, vines seemed to have done the trick and Melina was looking over the train.
“What do you think Melina?” questioned Solana.
“Not sure, the train it’s self is fine, the power motor however is boarder line, it could fry it’s self at any moment”
“Can it get us to Pine Bluffs the capital of Arboria?” questioned Tarsin.
“Maybe if we nurse the motor, but I wont make promises” Melina sighed.
“Alright, do what you can, we’ll need to keep an eye out all the same” replied Tarsin.
“Well perhaps we should eat before heading off” pointed out Kristi.
The group agreed it was a good idea and they carefully sat down where they could. Melina and Solana considered the drive motor. Perhaps they would be fine it just ment they would have to keep things under control. Breakfast if it could be called that were a few strips of unknown meat, whatever it was it tasted good.

As Darin and Grace were finally leaving the city, Nazani rubbed her head the grey squirrel sighed softly.
“Are you alright Doctor?” asked Grace.
“Yes...they tried to wipe my mind, but it didn’t work”
So that's why they let us escape. K’al thought he'd wiped out your memory.
“But do you know why it really failed?”
“I can't imagine!”
“As I was going under, I started to recite plays, stories I had read, even speeches I had heard anything I could remember, even a songs from my childhood!”
“It armoured me, girl. They couldn't wipe those things away”
“Either way where are we going Doctor?”
“That’s the thing while I was other wise engaged it seems our friends escaped the slave mines to Arboria. I over heard that jackal general speaking about it”

Pine Bluffs
Kristi, Megan, Solana, Melina and Tarsin looked out from the mono rail train, Pine Bluffs was a massive, massive tree the size of which none had seen before. It seemed only to get bigger as the got closer.
After a while the train pulled into a station far below the tree, as it stopped the sound of running feet could be heard. Suddenly about eight heavily armed red squirrels appeared as if from nowhere, each was dressed in a green uniform their large bushy tail behind them. Each was carrying a blaster rifle, on their waist was a sword and dagger.
“And who do we have here, oh yes you must be Emperor Jolon’s escaped prisoners. He’ll be very happy to have you all back, the Prince will be so glad, I’m Pel by the way, Arden’s best friend. I hope we won’t need the hand shackles. It would be very foolish to do something stupid after all, the Emperor does not like damaged goods. If you’ll follow me” said a black and red squirrel who came forwards.

A few hours had passed and Arden looked out from his privet veranda. Pel had made a huge problem a lot worse, Princess Aria had chosen to visit so it was not a good time.
“Give them to me dear” said a voice from behind the red squirrel.
Arden sighed and turned around, sprawled out on the bed was a dragon/fox hybrid, her tail flopped off the bed, it was long, with a few scales at the end and was twitching a little. Here wings were mostly orange and cream, her body was the same but for her lower arms and legs which were black with scales down to her hands and feet. Long pink hair ran down her back and stopped just above her rear.
“Aria what would your father say?”
“He’ll just either send them back to the mines or blast them into atoms. Just say they meet with an accident in the forest, father does not care as long as the kingdoms and moons of Lunita continue fighting each other”
“Pel has put me in quite the predicament” replied Arden.
“Only if you tell my father”
“Bitch, that’s playing with fire”
“I know my dear but your so good at it” Aria said as she got up and joined Arden.

A little later Arden had sent for the prisoners, he was thinking about their fate. Princess Aria had left for the palace. Her being missing would be noticed at some point. Pel was perched nearby grinning like some lunatic.
“The Princess would like you all but...her appetites can be a little..to much. Plus I need to placate Jolon for my own reasons. Few kingdoms survive a visit from the Imperial Home Fleet without very bad damage. I can not endanger my people any further than they have to be. I’m sorry but we’re not ready yet, I have to send you back to Jolon”
Megan some how managed to get out of the grip of the guard behind her and moved close to the wooden throne Arden was sitting in.
“We’re not your enemy, Jolon is! And you know it yourself. Jolon is the enemy of every creature of Lunita! Let's all team up and fight him!”
“'Team up', what does that mean?” questioned Pel.
“It means getting all the Kingdoms of Lunita to work together to defeat Jolon”
“Madness, the other kingdoms and moons would not help us!” Pel called out.
“I...am. not so...yes what is it?” questioned Arden.
Another squirrel had ran into the chamber, she stopped and bowed while she gathered her breath.
“Prince Arden….the Hawkmen are attacking the village of Broughton...it’s…”
“I know where it is guard thank you, we best take our guests with us so they can see first hand why the kingdoms of Lunita can not work together”

Kingdom Of Arboria
Village Of Broughton
Fire was raging in the village in the sky a number of hawkmen flew their feathered wings out stretched. Below more Hawkmen were busy rounding up what food and technology was there. A number of the large huts that passed as housing were on fire. A number of the Hawkmen and Squirrels were busy fighting energy weapons fire flew around ever where.
A little distance away the small rocket ship had landed, Arden. Pel, Kristi, Megan, Solana, Melina, Tarsin and a number of guards left it.
“Now do you see why the Kingdoms can not work together, we’re to busy fighting amongst each other over slights long forgot. Or we create new reasons to fight” Arden explained.
It seemed the fight loer down was finally going the way of the red squirrels. Slowly the Hawkmen were pulling back and the fires being put out.
“Pel take the guards, go down and help the civilians evacuate” ordered Aren.
“If your sure Prince Arden”
“I’m sure, our guests and I will be fine”
Pel took the guards down from the landing area and swoon disappeared. Arden watched as they left, he knew his people would drive the Hawkmen off. They had endured much like this before.
********
Prince Thral stroked his chin, things had been going well, perhaps to well, he thought. The village raid had been well planned. He had considered leaving as soon as they had the path web computer. However the damn squirrels had destroyed his rocket sled so they needed transportation.
Thral’s plan was to capture the ship that had landed at the upper landing pad, D’val must have been looking down on him with great blessings. Above was Prince Adren and the prisoners Emperor Jolon was looking for. It was like some gift from above he thought. Taking his guards Thral slowly eased their way up to the platform and grinned.
“Well hello my pretty, pretties! Why don’t we all go into the ship and have a little trip to my kingdom” announced Thral.
“Prince Thral, only you could take a Prince of the realm prisoner” said Arden.
“You know Jolon’s laws as well as I Arden” laughed Thral as he took Arden’s weapon away.
The small group soon made their way into the rocket ship nearby. Once everyone was aboard the ship lifted off the pad and headed away from Arboria.
********
“So were are we going?” questioned Megan
“Not far, now be quite” replied Thral.
“He’s either heading for either Pine Bluffs or Stratos his main city. Either way he’s going to try to score points with Jolon no doubt” replied Arden.
Tharl continued flying the ship soon it began to land, obviously he wanted something else than Prince Arden.
“Out now, today is your lucky day Arden, I’m only taking a few things including your prisoners. Jolon will pay a prettu penny for them I’d wager”
“Your nothing but a pirate Thral”
“Takes one to know one” replied Thral.
The small group left the ship, the rocket lay on the pad closest to the tree’s main chamber.
“That’s quite far enough, I’d like to stay but you know Jolon’s outside your own kingdom. The hunter becomes the hunted”
“Right now...if the ladies and Tarin would return to the ship” commented Thral.
Not long afterwards the ship left and headed towards Stratos and Thral’s kingdom. There was a loud noise and a grey squirrel and gold furred vixen came storming on the landing pad. After some shouting they finally got to what was going on.
“That group...I’m afraid you missed them, Prince Thral took them to the city of Stratos…” explained Arden.
“You better do something to get us there then” demanded Grace.

“I...am. not so...yes what is it?” questioned Arden.
