"Hey! What are you waiting for!?" - the one with the mask of a cat shouted at the dragon who decided to rest on one of the rocks.
The dragon turned his head. A mask covered his face as well, hiding his exact expression, but his eyes sticking from behind the eyeholes clearly displayed his annoyance. - "First of all, don't shout. We've had enough trouble with that worm alone. Second, just to remind you - I can barely stand right now, so unless you're gonna carry me all the way back to the city, let me rest..."
The feline took a look at the dragon who was shaking a little, with sparks of magical scorching jumping between random spots on his body. It wasn't safe to touch him in this state, but it wasn't safe to let him overexert himself either, especially given the distance they still had to travel.
"Eh, sorry. Well maybe next time just wait for me?" - the cat said while gently picking the dragon up to carry him on his back. He hissed when he felt the dragon's scorching through his own armour. He sometimes had no idea how his fiery comrade could handle something like this and still be able to walk around, let alone fight.
"...and let a sandworm eat me whole?" - the dragon softened his tone considerably, appreciating the gesture of his comrade. - "Thanks."
"Well..." - The cat recalled the encounter: how the great sandworm suddenly emerged from the sands below them, about to eat his draconic comrade alive. The dragon, taken completely off-guard, momentarily erupted in scorching white flames with enough force to repel the monstrosity and bend its body the other way. A sea of scorching flames enveloped the area, concentrating on the creature, burning it mercilessly without a break. He could only see its silhouette wiggling around in agony among that fiery mass, trying to get away, but being stopped by the currents keeping it in place. He wasn't sure how long that spectacle lasted for, but by the time it ended, the worm's lifeless body had hit the ground, melted and thoroughly burnt. He then found his comrade completely exhausted on his knees, panting…
"You didn't have to go all out, you know? You man-torch. Use your swords first." - he reprimanded the dragon who was quiet for a moment, trying to find an excuse for his reckless course of action, but failing.
"I’m sorry."
"Don't apologise." - the feline sighed - "I got scared as well when it ambushed us out of nowhere, and it was enormous too..." - he paused. - "...you just need to think before you act sometimes. I know you’re more durable than you seem, and we’re in a completely barren area, but you should still look after yourself more."
The silence followed and after several minutes of walking, the cat spoke again.
"I want a beer after. Your treat."
"Deal..." - the dragon murmured, finally succumbing to scorching and letting himself slip into a rejuvenating slumber, letting his trusted comrade carry him all the way back to the city...
I needed to just doodle. Decided to finally design some armour for a certain someone. I might colour it at a later date.
