I am beyond honored to receive this.
This beautiful art piece was drawn by
Flippin-Rad and has been done in the style of Golden Treasure: The Great Green
In the game, all creatures have what is called a Spirit Crown that is unique to them and represents their personality. Four colors can appear in the spirit crown which represent the four elements that define every creature: Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. The more of a color and the larger the shapes that appear in the spirit crown, the stronger that element is within the creature.
In this scene, Craddock has wandered beyond the edge of his territory and was exploring a stony coastline. To his surprise, a goodbeast of the water approached him. Craddock identified it as a Singer, although he knew little more than the name. It showed surprisingly little fear of the most capable predator of above and below. Clearly it knew as little about him as he knew about it.
Craddock decided to reach out to the Singer. An opportunity to learn the way of another goodbeast was far more enticing to him than a meal.
Craddock laid himself down and made it clear he was not hunting. The Singer eagerly approached and contacted him.
The singer was surprisingly adept with Air for a goodbeast. It had much to sing about, and was intensely curious about the Draak-Kin. Craddock was more than happy to teach the good way of the Draak to this Singer, and in return it sang of its way. This singer in particular was certainly unique. It was difficult to determine whether it was brave or foolish, but Craddock admired its fascination with himself and the Draak-Kin.
Craddock made sure to warn the Singer of the danger inherent in approaching a Draak. It was lucky to have found him first. Craddock hoped to see this Singer again. He wished to hear many more of its songs. He considered taking it back to his lair as a treasure but the Singer's way would not allow for it. They would not survive for long outside the water, even if they required the air to breathe. Their way was formed by a delicate balance between the two worlds.
When Craddock decided he had lingered long enough and winged back to his territory, he felt well nourished by his meeting with the Singer without any need to hunt.
One more time I would love to thank
Flippin-Rad for doing such an excellent job on this.
Rad is also a big fan of Golden Treasure, so I knew he would do an excellent job with this idea. This was originally intended to just be a quick colored sketch done as a Patreon raffle prize, but Rad loved the idea and the game so much that he wanted to go all out on it and... wow. I'm blown away by this, and immensely grateful that he did this for us.
The dolphin's name is Koda and belongs to Flippin-Rad ! Also, while not officially in the game, Rad asked the game's creator Ludwig what the dragons (or Draak-Kin) would call dolphins and the most popular name for them was Singers due to their linguistic skill!
Also, I would love to recommend Golden Treasure to anyone who has an interest in dragons, great art, and distinctly non-human perspectives (and great writing and music and gameplay and emotion and characters and... I struggle to be concise about this game so much you have no idea).
It is a text-based dragon survival game and my favorite piece of art. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It has a free lengthy demo on its steam page that if you play you will know for sure whether the game is for you or not. So please, try the Golden Treasure demo! If you're like me, you might find one of your new favorite games!
