About 30 minutes after the incident which transformed all the people in the Kilima school into anthropomorphic animals, an emergency meeting is convened. Jordan is one of the few students who actually follows the call and is not hiding. As he wanders through the extinct corridors, someone calls him by his name.

Jordan glanced over his shoulder as he continued to follow the corridor. He knew the voice. But the person the voice belonged to was a complete stranger to him. He was tall, broad-shouldered, his whole body covered in brown fur. Two incisors protruded from his upper jaw and a paddle tail from his buttocks. A beaver? Or a marmot? Jordan couldn't tell. But then his steps slowed. The Gemini-zodiac silver chain the student wore around his neck and the basketball shirt... Could it be...?
“Marc?” Jordan asked in disbelief.

This early in the story all the characters still have to deal with their mismatched clothing. Sometimes the transformed humans grew bigger or smaller, wider or narrower. Shoes will soon be a thing of the past very soon.
