A way I like to describe Keith and Sky's relationship over time (instead of lore dumping a whole novel) is like adopting an abused dog and then giving it a lot of TLC over time. So just felt like drawing a visual representation of that with Human Sky and (feral) Dog Keith xD

I love this picture and what it mean/shows!
Keith is much like how my doggo was when I adopted her, more terrified of people than anything. It took months of showing her love and kindness before she wanted to be around people. Now, 2 years later, she loves social time. Sometimes we all just need someone to show us that everything will be alright.

Aaaa poor Keith, he is so lucky to have someone like Sky to love him <3 This is such a good little visual story of earning trust and love through kindness. Also so happy to see Goggles on Keith, it brings good memories to mind of a dog I used to live with :3 (had goggles to keep him safe during car rides cus he loved looking out the window <3 )
I've rescued and fostered abused dogs, including one who had her legs shot off. They deserve love, patience and a chance to improve. Like people with trauma do. Genuinely this was such a good way to put their story but also life in general into perspective.
I always love seeing your work but this especially hit home <3

I can assure you this "approach" would lose HIM a hand...
A distressed animal reads this like a threat!
1. squatting or sitting isn't bad but you better face AWAY (to the side) of the animal so it knows "you don't pounce it"
2. reaching out like that....... just no. Keep hands slow and close.
3. wait for the animal to come closer before reacting in kind.
Cornering anyone/anything to 'calm it down' is the worst you can do.

Lol I'm aware xD Sky actually wasn't going to pet him in the first image. It was more like he was going to retract his hand afterwards when he realized how aggressive Keith was going to act. It is a hasty act, but it's supposed to reflect how Sky was a bit too pushy when he was trying to befriend Keith (in their canon story)
There's probably like months of missing context and time between the two pictures, which is supposed to be reflective of their actual canon relationship (both as humanoids)
