I actually came up with the character before I realized how rare and powerful alicorns were in the show. ^_^;; I just assumed at the time most lived elsewhere and I wasn't taking things too seriously with his creation. Now his form is basically my dragon selves shape when he enters Equestria so as not to scare ponies with a huge 20ft tall scaly look.
He's also something of a novice at magic. He has one powerful skill of being able to cause things to happen that he writes about, but besides that he can use levitation spells and short range teleporting. Plus there's a chance even using the magic that is his talent, using too much of the latent alicorn power he has but can't fully control can cause things to blow up in his face rather badly.

True, but dragons are still mostly feared by ponies. I'm not saying they wouldn't adapt given time, but given his only visits to this reality it would still cause something of a panic if he arrived in town as a dragon as tall as most houses. t's not like he's hiding, he's just trying to avoid a panic on sight is all.
