The black dragon Onyx guarding her treasure hoard in the ruins of Xak Tsaroth. Painted in acrylics for the D&D 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide!
Really happy I was given one of the new black dragons, this design is SO much fun to draw and paint! It's so pointy and slithery and skeletal, properly grim looking guys. All in all very pleased both with the assignment and the result!

I love how new design looks
It looks more sinister, more dead and more scary
Just like the dragon that feeds from misery, death and carcasses of old long gone civilizations
And the place you drew for his lair feels even more fitting to the dragon that enjoys to see the ruins of nations
Amazing stuff!

Oh, I knew this looked familiar! Such a cool piece, and the new black dragon design really looks really good.
In general, I like what they did with most of the dragons - the one exception would be blue, since I personally think they strayed too far from the original looks, and that horn just looks too fragile.
But back on topic, this is a really amazing picture and in addition to the dragon I love the little details of the magic items in the hoard being accurate to their designs!

I love the new design. Nice touch with the Bag of Holding, Staff of the Magi, and other named magic items! I love it when artists or writers include that sort of thing, like how I could identify most of Raistlin's spells based on descriptions.
I look forward to adding your art to the Forgotten Realms wiki once the book releases, assuming no-one else beats me to it.

Khisanth, my beloved! I honestly have her name on my high school ring because I was *such* a dork.
'The Black Wing' is definitely one of my favorite books.
Still not a huge fan of the 2024 redesign on black dragons for the skull and all, but this is phenomenal work on one of my favorite characters in fantasy. <3
