City of Thorns: Recap

Gatling Goat's headset exploded with the sound of Slipstream's very alarmed voice, startling her
from her work at the BOS comms desk.

"GG! GG! You gotta put me through to an all points broadcast! Every agent we have out in the
field! "

"For the love of..."

"I'm not kidding! "

"Slipstream, you know I'm not doing that. If you have an update on the situation at the farm-"

"Oh, you better believe there's an update. Listen, we think there's about to be a major attack-
"

"We?"

"Me and War Wolf. Her frown was extra serious so you know she's not messing around. Look,
I'll tell you all about it, just maybe get someone near Sohoi Botanical Gardens to scope it out. "

"Sohoi Botanical Gardens? All right...wait one."

After a few moments of rapid typing, Gatling Goat got an earful of the panther's impatient voice.
"GG..."

"Relax, Slipstream, I put in a request for a CPD driveby and updated my link with dispatch to
catch keywords related to Sohoi. If CPD gets any 911 calls related to the gardens, I'll know about it. Now
let's have that update. Start at the beginning."

"Okay..." Slipstream took a deep breath, and then let loose. "I met up with War Wolf like
Ranger told me to and once we realized Strikira and Ember were still missing we went to their last known
location to see what was happening and that's when he found a bunch of living vines covering a hatch in
an abandoned farmhouse...so after burning them we went down a long tunnel and found Ember and
Strikira unconscious but before we could get them out Gaia and two hench-naga attacked us and we had
to fight them and when we did they dropped whatever nightmare fertilizer junk they've been working
on...and we just barely got out of the tunnel in time before giant vines tore the tunnel and the building
apart...and that's when War Wolf took some samples back with and I went back to HQ and got checked
out for all the scrapes and stuff and then I went back out to find out where Gaia was taking the
toxin..."

"For the love of God take a breath."

"GAAAAAAAASP! So then you helped me find that tunnel Gaia used earlier and that's
when I ran into Strikira again but now she's...changed... and she tried to bite me and I had no choice but
to abandon the tunnel because they'd have taken me too and that's when I heard about the disturbance
at the remains of the farmhouse...so I flew back there and got there just in time to pick up a cop car and
smash a plant monster with it before War Wolf shot it and blew it up because fire works really, really well
on these things and War Wolf realized Gaia's plan is to unleash this toxin all across the city...and we're
sure she's starting at Sohoi Botanical Gardens! We need to-"

"Slipstream, wait one." Gatling Goat's eyes had darted to the corner of her side monitor, where a
red box had popped up with the date, time, address, and recording of a 911 call caught by her filter.
"Emergency call, thirty seconds ago...apartment across the street from the Gardens."

"See? War Wolf said she's rearming and she'll meet us there, so-"

"Dear God..." Gatling Goat's eyes grew wide with alarm as the lone call was almost immediately
drowned out with more notifications. The monitor grew thick with red, Sohoi-filtered 911 call windows
popping up like rounds from a machine gun. Eighty-two calls within seven seconds. Any doubt she had
over Slipstream's claim vanished. She switched to an open channel and said as urgently yet calmly as
possible, "All active agents, converge on 1821 37th Street, Sohoi Botanical Gardens. Potential mass
casualty event. Report in to supervisors upon arrival for further orders. Slipstream..."

"Already on my way!"
