Concept is basically Scar having Simba in his arms so unprotected yet being unable to harm himβ¦ At least not yet. As seen in the movie, he ended up sending the hyenas after him, just because he didnβt want to do the dirty job, not because he cared about Simba and couldn't do it himself thus bearing with guilt. Maybe something like this couldβve happened before the idea of killing both Mufasa and Simba came through his head, also killing Simba like that wouldβve been a bad move altogether though. So, the conflict inside Scarβs mind wouldβve been interesting to address in a situation like this.
This is a remake of a picture I did in 2014, this one, I really wanted to draw it again, 10 years later. If youβre wondering why the username there isnβt the same as the one Iβve used since 2010 (MiLe-08), the reason is simple: it was an alternative account I created on DA to post and work on commissions, I ended up deactivating it because I couldnβt handle that and other accounts I already had.
Anyway, that picture was one of the most popular ones I had on that account and one of my personal favorites because of the concept behind it, so I really wanted to do a remake of it, this time really making a study of the characters to make them look as in-model as possible, as Iβve done since 2022 (See here and here), using the movie colors for both: the charactersβ and background.
I started working on this early 2024 and I gotta say that it was fun to work on it, to draw this idea again. I saw the 2014 picture as βtoo good to be excelledβ before I started sketching, it was too perfect to me even after 10 years, maybe because of how popular it was? Iβm not sure; it wasnβt until I started working on the sketch that I noticed the differences and I didnβt regret the time spent working on it once it was done, seeing them both side by side now is interesting, haha
Iβve already drawn Scar as a psychopath in a reimagination of the cut ending of the movie so maybe drawing a more relaxed and βcaringβ Scar was next(?). That said, I might do other remakes of the few pictures I liked from that time, thereβs one with Kiara that Iβm not entirely sure if I should use her official design or the one I made for her, if youβre curious: This for cub, this for adult. Iβm very fond of designs that look more like "Fluffy" and have the first movie colors but Iβm aware that a design that looked more like Kiaraβs in TLK2 would be more identifiable, so itβs hard to decide as Iβm not the biggest fan of that design or colors xD
So thatβs that, for now! Who wore it better? 2014 or 2024? x3
