As I recently had a small shortage of A4 paper, I had to resort to A5 format and had the idea for a small redraw. I wanted to try my second piece ever »Mneka« (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/49102390/) once again, also because I had painted this one with a school paint box and now wanted to see where I could go with real watercolors.
However, there was a small coincidence between the sketch and the coloring - my wife was shopping and I asked her to bring me three tubes (RGB colors). And that was probably her call to simply take the most expensive thing she could find in the shop. So, she handed off the twelve tubes from Schmincke. At that point it wasn't just a redraw, it was also the first attempt with new colors.
Well, I wasn't prepared for how incredibly highly pigmented these colors are - just a tiny crumb of it was enough to cover the paper, so playing with different layers was no longer possible. Stylistically, the two pieces don't match at all, and I'm not even sure if this counts as a redraw, but there it is. After all one thing remains: I still like the first drawing a lot because I was never able to reproduce its its raw originality in any other piece.
PS: Unfortunately, I'm not able to place the subject in the middle of the canvas.
