This image is a copy - not a tracing - of an image I saw from Grumpy Cat back in the day and I thought it would suit Blu's personality a lot, so I did this copy. Was it good? No. Did I like it? Also no. But there's that, and back in the day I was more worried about quantity than quality, so I didn't pay much attention to it. Once saved the image, I just went to the next drawing.
"Why did you emphasize it's not tracing? Sounds suspicious"
Because I've been accused of tracing that drawing more than just a couple of times, so I just add it's not tracing first thing. I did used to trace a lot of art when I was younger, which helped me to get a lot of muscle memory, but I didn't post any of those traces; not because I had the conscious morals that it would be super wrong, but because I wasn't really interested on growing audience or follow any career, or whatever. I really just wanted to draw and learn Photoshop (which was my software back in the day).
Let it be known, as controversial it is, I do believe people are allowed to trace pictures or arts they find cool and interesting when they are learning to get familiar with their tools and develop muscle memory. What they cannot do is to claim the art as their own. Therefore, credits must be given to original artists IF they desire to post their practice drawings. It won't help you understand fundamentals nor improve your art, but will help you develop coordination. Just don't get too reliant on that, otherwise, you'll never fully improve.
