The northward journey for the Greymoor/Vaeleryn band of would-be heroes went well after the escape from Umbermount, facilitated by a kind elf gentleman named Doran. For the most part...

First a tunneling four-legged beast pursued the cart as it made for Basseria, then an enormous primordial terror of a worm made a meal of the first creature, and turned its attention onto the cart. Lunging after it, snagging Gael by the leg, and after tossing her into the air, swallowing her whole.

Her friends and Doran beat on the creature from the outside to get it to relinquish the Grim Knight. Inside, a terrified and panicking Gael pleaded for someone, anyone, to help her, as she endeavored to slip herself into the Wraithlands, the realm of the strange shadowy man who had spoken to her before. Hoping beyond hope it would let her escape a deadly acidic fate.

She faded into the Wraithlands, the World Between. And he heard her plea.
