Is the painter Joaquín Sorolla an inspiration for you? I ask because this piece reminds me of some of his paintings of kids at the beach. IDK, something about the way you painted the sea reminds me of that

I did use a photo reference for the appearance of the beach though.

Yeah- I start with visual refs most of the time, even if the pose I’m copying might change by the time the piece is done.
And I use the old school mediums. :3
Some combo of : Pens/markers/paint markers/gouache/watercolor/acrylic/pastels.
