I hope that this helps.. I know how to (obviously), but I don't have a habit of doing it myself, either.
I need to start doing my characters in perspective, it REALLY makes it look better, especially when you do a background in perspective. Creating a vanishing point helps ALOT with forshortening.
But if you have just started really drawing, I don't really press you to learn to do perspective yet. Anatomy is alot better to have done first, but if you can, it would be great to learn how to do both at first. Create yourself a good base. ^^
