What happens when you get two professional bakers together for afternoon tea? Serena and 
HoldYourColours Kyra spent many hours catching up, talking about the ins-and-outs of their personal lives, all while sampling some high class pastries.
This might be one of my favorite commissions I've pitched, that came together so wonderfully by the talented
Sushisnake who can be found on twitter or Bluesky! We spent months going back and forth working on this, using numerous references and going through many drafts just to capture the scene, the characters, the props, the outfits...and I think it came out astonishingly well. It means a lot to me cause I am a big fan of Kyra and she's one of the biggest inspos to me creating Serena. It's an incredible scene, better than I could have imagined thanks to Sushi's great coloring and shading. They look so natural and in their element, it's nothing short of stunning.
For this scene, I was really racking my brain over what these two would be saying? But since there was so much possibility; I actually thought it'd be fun to abbreviate the dialogue as emojis. Talking at length about their partners, (small cameo by
minbo bun Graham), desserts, business practices, increasing numbers...there's a lot to get out of that!
