To be fair, can't he just do both? If it's like the army, does he have off-duty days? He can visit and cuddle Krystal during those. :P

He could do both, he just didn't communicate that to her before SHTF. Krystal may have been okay with that, but he just made an executive decision behind her back.

Much like Nintendo made an executive decision to make their piss poor excuse of a story behind Star Fox's back.

What you think about the command endings?

I've learned to not take them, or the game itself too seriously and enjoy the things I like in the game. :D
Lucy and Krystal ending also being my favorite too, because the ladies get to shine and I just like how it just simply says that Krystal and Fox finally just talked to each other to clear things between them.

I do also enjoy some of the aspects with the Kursed ending, where Krystal goes solo and becomes a bounty hunter. Because bounty hunters are fun and cool. :p

This is what drives the wedge for me to consider these two as a couple. I tried to see the appeal but the supreme lack of communication undermines very little growth they have and makes Fox look like your average Saturday morning cartoon merc.

Its not a franchise that is supposed to be taken this seriously. It's very much a head canon

I'm aware and just voicing my dissatisfaction of how romance was handled with one of my favorite characters.

I know that storytelling isn't Miyamoto's strong suit but a few words wouldn't have hurt to write to at least make it clear their feelings are genuine, y'know?

I really like seeing this more realistic view of them and not just a cartoonish “they dated but then they broke up and had a sad” premise that was given in the game. Honestly I feel like Fox is still really immature when it comes to relationships; he’s probably used to making all the decisions for his team, not realizing that he actually needs to take his “teammate” into account and talk with them first. Maybe that’s why StarFox fractured too. :P

I really loved every page, Star Fox has such a diffuse lore at times that it gives great opportunities to do things like this comic. It feels so emotional, that either of the two endings suits it well. Awesome work!

as much as i despise command from art style to gameplay, the mean spirited script that fanfiction did better at the time, some ideas i did like such as playing multiple characters having ttheir own ships and attributes, this is a good chat between the two.

goodbye fox is indeed the best ending, the idea of them having kids together always sounded like a good epilogue. but the setup from the proglogue makes no sense to me since krystal is a telepathic, she should have seen through fox's bs or whatever facade he was trying to put on.

It would make sense that she may feel some regret for not pushing it, but it's also not her job to force communication from Fox. Communication is a 2 way street.
Fox should've talked to her on his own volition.

This is true however the way she's portrayed in the story paths is so mean and cruel to down right humiliating poor Fox that I asked myself "why don't you see his thoughts? That didn't stop you in assault" there's a super rare line in assault where she tells fox that she's protected by his "warm thoughts/feelings". Its a good thing the goodbye fox path didn't have her at all honesty since the writer's loved making her cold.

The 'canon' ending was...meh. [I wrote an entire story (like an FF) based on this ending. Long story short: Krystal 'reforms' Star Wolf, an new crisis arrives (BIG surprise...), Krystal bands SF and SW together (like the end mission of 'Assault' where the teams worked together), public calls them Star Lylat (Wolf is always short of exploding because of this), they defeat the new evil and while all this Fox and Krystal find back together + MAAANY other things.]

'Lucy and Krystal' meant that there COULD be a new start. After all, James and Vixy found a common ground, too. OF COURSE: Vixy was not involved in the mercenary-live-style like Krystal is, but I think a certain father-figure could share some intersting knowledge here.

Command admittedly was the game that pissed me off cause of its controversial endings. Like you said before. The Lucy ending to me was one of the best cause yes we got to see the girls shine. However I do really like your depiction of this. If this was what we were given instead of that bs ending we have to do at the start of the game I think fans would’ve understood this better as I fully get where the conflict is… to either be with your family or server your country (or planet in this case)… it’s a tough decision that would be tough on anyone who feels obligated. Fox chief among them. Very good job depicting this in the comic. 5/5
