A piece of Redwall fanart featuring one of my favorite villains in the entire series, Tsarmina Greeneyes from the book "Mossflower" by Brian Jacques. For real though I could write a full essay about how much I love Tsarmina, she's got a great personality and character traits for a villain along with a top notch design. Speaking of design I will say I did take a fair few liberties in her design here, in the book what I remember of her design is just -cat -purple cloak -crown -bow and arrow and then the rest is left up mostly to audience interpretation. There are some more official arts of her but Redwall art usually takes a more abstract approach to characters with them frequently only wearing 1 or 2 articles of clothing and while that works well in the style most of the official art works go with it really would just look weird in my style so I added some details. For starters alot of the art I found of her added a breastplate and vambraces to her so I included those as well, I then needed something for her legs so I gave her a skirt and then placed some hanging armour panels over it so it wouldn't appear to out of place with her mostly armoured upper body. I also wanted to give her a slight eye motif since her faction is called "The Thousand Eyes" and her sir name is "Greeneyes" so I made her broach look a bit like a cats eye with the verticle slit in the middle and put an eye on either side of her skirt, I thought about putting some on her cloak but ultimately decided against it since then I'd have to add more details to the cloak and didn't want this piece to explode into a big project because of some cloak eyes. Artistically this piece isn't anything too crazy, I experimented a little bit with adding texture to fur by adding little dashes/slashes of either the highlight colour on unshaded areas of the deeper shade on shaded area's. I also did a bit sloppier of a job on some of the shading and highlighting because this was supposed to be a for fun piece for me so I didn't worry too much about it. I also gave some colour on her eyes since I felt the green of her eyes was integral to her character. All in all I really loved working on this piece and had a ton of fun making it, I don't anticipate this piece doing very well since I think redwall might be a bit too niche of a subject to garner much popularity but I don't really care this was a piece I've wanted to do for months and I'm happy to have done it. I'm gonna do a piece of Princess Kurda from the Redwall book "Triss" next and then probably do more study centric pieces focusing on musculature and after that I might return to do some more Redwall fanart since I'm on a bit of a redwall kick at the moment.
Thank you for viewing my art
